Kent obtained a 1st class honours degree from National University of Malaysia (UKM) in July 2008. In August 2008, he commenced his career as a Deputy Public Prosecutor in the Attorney General’s Chambers, Malaysia.

He was attached with the Narcotics Unit in the prosecution division, the Penang State Prosecution Office and the Selangor State Prosecution Office to conduct criminal prosecutions in the Magistrate Court, Sessions Court and High Court. Subsequently he joined  Malaysian Co-operative Societies Commission as a prosecuting officer in March 2010.

Kent then decided to pursue private legal practice and he was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 23 July 2010 and commenced legal practice with a mid-sized law firm in April 2011 as a legal associate handling property and banking matters. In June 2013, he joined an established law firm in Petaling Jaya handling civil and corporate litigation matters. He then joined Teoh & Teoh in June 2019 as senior legal associate and has been handling civil and corporate litigation matters since joining the firm.
